STORY

In the neon-lit streets of the city, where the night never truly fell, there was a gambler who’d bet his soul away more times than he could count. He wasn’t just any gambler, he was the kind of man who lived for the rush, who believed that every roll of the dice and every flip of the card could change his life forever. But it never did. All it ever brought him was loss. His debts piled up, his relationships crumbled, and his self-worth withered away with each game.

One fateful night, when he found himself at rock bottom, alone, broke, and nursing a bottle of whiskey in a dark alley, a mysterious figure approached. Dressed in a tailored suit with eyes that gleamed like they knew every secret in the world, the stranger spoke in a voice as smooth as velvet.

“You’ve wagered everything. Your money, your future, your dignity... But what if I told you there was a game where the stakes were higher than anything you could imagine? A game that could change your destiny?”

Desperate for anything that might turn his luck around, he agreed without hesitation. The stranger handed him a deck of cards that shimmered with an otherworldly glow.

“They’re yours now,” the figure said. “But remember—these cards aren’t just for luck. They’re for power. Play carefully.”

He scoffed at first, thinking it was just another trick. But when he took the deck and held it in his hands, the cards vibrated with an electric energy. He shuffled them, and without thinking, threw one into the air. The card spun and landed on the ground, exploding into a brilliant flash of light. When the smoke cleared, he found himself standing tall, draped in a costume, his hands crackling with raw magical energy.

He was no longer just the gambler, he was the Kinetic Cards wielder, a superhero capable of throwing enchanted playing cards. With every flick of his wrist, the cards flew, each one carrying a unique and destructive power.

Hey Wind Bends Steel,

I streamed my playthrough of your game (the video has chapters). Check it out:

This game has so much potential. You've built a solid foundation. The game looks great and it plays fine. I need to feel more of a connection between the gameplay and the story. If it is just about destroying crates, then make it as fun and polished as possible. More movement options, more explosive effects when crates break, some sick drum n bass or something to get you pumped and a speedrun timer. Just a few suggestions within what you already have. But it would be cool too if there were more levels, some actual enemies and yeah a story to match the one you have on your itch page. Solid work and keen to see you push it further!

Thanks Arluc! Yeah, I plan on doing some more updates soon. Really like the idea of adding more movement options.

When you get to 30 chips, nothing happens. Also, there doesn't seem to be unique powers to the cards, or high stakes (maybe could use some more challenge somehow). Otherwise, is good.

Thanks for playing. Yeah, I thought about a cinematic or a prompt for completing the game. Will update soon.
